Is it weird that my parents have never actually heard me sing?
They know that I sing, they know that I enjoy it, and they've seen the odd obligatory performance or two when I was in elementary school, but they have never really been the kind of parents who came to every talent show or choir performance. I think that they went to one of our choir shows at the Chan and fell asleep, so, I never invited them again. They've always pushed academics ahead of music and art, and as a result, I've never actually performed in front of them. It got to the point where I just stopped telling them when I had a performance.
Anyway, since I've been making YouTube videos, my parents have grown more interested in my music. My mom asks if I'm making videos for Facebook (so weird that she knows about Facebook). My parents have also been asking me if they could see my videos or sing for them... but I can't. I don't know why. I'm scared. They are tough people to impress and I think that I'd rather sing in front of millions of people than in front of my own parents.
I really hope that they don't realize that they can search my name up on YouTube.
