"Turn the lights off; carry me home."

I am slowly rebuilding my relationship with my parents and it's going extremely well.

Good bye, teen angst! I remember when I thought that my mom was the most annoying person in the world. God, I was so stupid. She's still annoying sometimes, but only in a mom kind of way. I mean, I'm no longer planning an escape from my house. I realised that she's pretty funny sometimes, too. When I explained to her what an "asshole" was (Her co-worker has a big potty mouth and is like that Chef Ramsey guy in female form and yells at everyone but my mom), she covered her face and was so embarrassed because she had used that word three times in our conversation before she actually asked me what it meant. So cute.

Yesterday, on my way to school, my dad told me that when he first came to Canada, he spent three years living with a priest, and that (as a condition of living at the church's housing) he sold Catholic magazine subscriptions door-to-door. I didn't know that. Can you imagine how much that would suck, especially if your English isn't so great? This was after he escaped from the Vietnam war and a while after he left the American air force. Sooo cool.

I love my parents.
