Guess where I'm currently stuck?
... Na-stupid town-naimo.
Yes. I'm back in this land of gloooooom.
Against my own will (yet again).
It's so effing hot, too.
I feel like Anne Frank. Okay, that's a major exaggeration, but what I mean is that I've been stuck in this dusty room for what seems like ages. Yesterday, I grew so restless that I decided to take a walk. I was hoping to find something interesting/fun to do. I started out walking east from where I'm staying... and I just kept walking and walking... and walking. It was so hot.
I passed by a Janitor's Warehouse, a 7 Eleven, and a Little Caesar's. Those are the only big name things that I could find. The only other businesses that I found were weird barber shops and beauty salons running out of people's homes. It was weird because one of them was advertising Brazilian bikini waxes. Would YOU go to someone's house to get your peepee waxed? I wouldn't. That's just creepy.
Anyway, as I passed by the Little Caesar's, I saw an ocean/dock/boats in the distance! I was so excited because it was soooo hot and I felt sticky and gross. So, I began walking faster. I could almost feel the coolness of the water on my feet...
Then, I got closer to the "ocean" and realized that it was not an ocean, but an impostor! It was a stupid lake!!!!!!! A stupid lake, with dirty, murky, greeny-brown water and old, hairy fishermen.
ARGH! I was so upset. To make things worse, I had to turn around and walk back uphill. The sun was buuuuuurning my body on the way up the hill. I was sad. And hot. I wanted to buy a Slurpee on the way back, but I had no money. I didn't even realize how far I had walked until I started walking back... it took forever! Seriously. I thought that I had gotten lost because it felt like it was taking so much longer going back. When I checked the time on my cell phone, I realized that it had taken me almost an hour to walk back to where I'm staying.
Holy jeebus.
I thought about going to the mall, but the only mall that sounds remotely interesting is (according to Google maps) a freaking Walkathon distance away and hellllllllllllls to the no am I walking that far.
I tried figuring out how to use the bus, but I don't even know if the bus exists here! I've seen bus stops, but no buses. Ever. And I walked for like, two hours, yesterday on a what was supposed to be a bus route.
:(
Today, I took another walk, in the opposite direction... so, I walked west. I found a Chevron. I bought a FRZN COLD. That wasn't the interesting part, though! The clerk at Chevron was a girl! A teenage girl! A teenage, CAUCASIAN girl! It was amazing, 'cause you know, gas station clerks in Vancouver are usually...
